Interface

Interface is an in-development cognitive augmentation product. It has been designed in light of recent developments in cognitive ergonomic theories relating to the idea that our minds are extended into the world outside and embodied in a variety of substrates.
Recently developed AI capabilities have been characterised as ‘system 0’, a distinct layer of the cognitive system which is tasked with performing inference - transforming, condensing, reformatting, linguistic content. The emergence of these capabilities, and defining them within this framework, provides new opportunities for us to explore and visualise our cognitive processes. To embody them in external processes, and in doing so expand the range of our capabilities and insights.
Software for cognitive integration should be designed around trust, agency, sovereignty, oversight, and the option for exit. Interface is built to support privacy, self-sovereignty, and comparability — an open system sitting between your volition and your externalised cognitive structures. Good design supports, strengthens, and empowers.
We create our tools and our tools reshape us and the world around us.
